I found all that I needed for some awesome sushi making. But the salmon was…. How you say? Old? And smelly. Should’ve sniffed at the counter but I trusted the guy when he said fresh. Probably should’ve made him define it.
I practiced with just the rice I made and the nori.. Rolling them. Not thrilling to look at. I think in the next couple days I will grab some cucumber and play with that. I will take pictures when it’s not just me and lumpy rice.
The seasoning of the rice was a bit sweeter than I would like so I will adjust that to our tastes.
Alas my proving Roy wrong waits for another, less shitty trip to the seafood counter.
Oh… And Ralph’s meat counter person who told me that shit was fresh? *middle finger*
One question, Was the middle finger fresh? i’m just sayinnnnnnn
Aged 32 years. 😉
There was a line in there that… well it could have been construed as…
*sigh*
Be sure to ask if the fish is sushi grade. That should *hopefully* clue them in that by fresh…you mean fresh!
That’s what kills me.. I had nori in the cart, ginger, sushi rice.. and the guy says to me, “OH, looks like sushi, huh?” So I say, I need some super fresh salmon if he has any. He then proceeds to sell me inedible garbage.
