Urban Gardening: Day 1

So last year we tried to do this strictly with potting mix and pots.. We got lazy, we had poor exposure.. so it kinda failed a lot.

This year we were a little smarter about it. We bought a lot of plants already started, so we wouldn’t have to worry about the initial sprouting and we were left with mostly watering duties.  We planted:

Swiss Chard

Parsley

Catnip

Basil

Oregano

Thyme (probably one of the best underused spices)

Asparagus

Shallots

Beets

Garlic

Leeks

I am hoping that some, if not all, of these veggies and spices make it to my table. Pictures to come once things start growing. 😀

  1. I’m getting anxious for our gardening to begin! Of course we still have over a foot of snow where our garden resides. And I’m with you- I love thyme!

    • The weather is wonky. Yesterday we had 90 degree temps but tomorrow they said it’s only gonna be 60. We don’t do the freezing or snow thing here though, so I figured I was safe to plant. 🙂
